Learning Objective
Building Relationships. Solving Problems. Driving Results.
This training is designed to equip sales professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to successfully manage the entire sales cycle—from prospecting and qualification to closing and customer retention. Participants will learn how to build trust-based relationships, uncover customer needs, deliver value-driven solutions, and navigate objections effectively. Through scenario-based learning and practical application, learners will develop the communication, negotiation, and consultative selling skills required to engage customers, strengthen pipeline performance, improve conversion rates, and drive long-term business growth. By the end of the training, participants will be able to apply a repeatable sales process that enhances customer experiences while supporting organizational sales goals and revenue objectives.

Marketing Team: Members who work closely with the sales team and need to align their strategies and messaging with the sales process.
My Instructional Design Process
Drawing on five years of professional sales experience, I designed this concept course to address common performance challenges observed throughout the sales cycle. By reflecting on real-world customer interactions, industry best practices, and recurring obstacles faced by sales professionals, I identified opportunities to strengthen prospecting, customer discovery, objection handling, and closing techniques.
Rather than assuming additional product knowledge alone would improve performance, I focused on the behaviors and decision-making skills that contribute to successful sales conversations. The course was intentionally designed to reinforce a consistent sales methodology through realistic scenarios, interactive learning activities, and practical application, creating a scalable learning solution that supports both individual skill development and improved sales performance.

Instructional Design Process
Drawing on my professional sales experience, I approached this project from a performance improvement perspective rather than simply creating a presentation about the sales process. My goal was to design a learning experience that allows sales professionals to practice the communication and decision-making skills required throughout each stage of the sales cycle.
To achieve this, I:
Identified common sales challenges based on firsthand experience and industry best practices.
Defined measurable learning objectives focused on observable sales behaviors.
Organized content into logical stages that mirror a real sales conversation.
Designed realistic scenarios that encourage learners to analyze customer needs and make decisions.
Incorporated opportunities for practice, reflection, and immediate feedback.
Built the course in Articulate Storyline using interactive elements that promote engagement and knowledge retention.
Applied accessibility best practices to support an inclusive learning experience.
Why scenario-based learning?
Sales professionals develop confidence through practice. I incorporated realistic customer conversations that allow learners to apply questioning techniques, respond to objections, and practice closing strategies in a risk-free environment.
Why interactive learning?
Rather than presenting information through static slides, learners actively participate in the sales process by making decisions, exploring content, and receiving immediate feedback. This approach promotes engagement and strengthens knowledge retention.
Why immediate feedback?
Immediate feedback helps learners understand why a sales approach is effective or ineffective, reinforcing best practices while encouraging reflection and continuous improvement.
Why self-paced eLearning?
Sales professionals often balance prospecting, meetings, travel, and customer follow-up. A self-paced course provides flexibility while allowing learners to revisit concepts whenever additional practice is needed.
Why focus on behaviors instead of scripts?
Successful sales conversations require adaptability rather than memorization. The course emphasizes communication skills, active listening, relationship building, and problem-solving so learners can confidently respond to a variety of customer situations.
This project allowed me to combine my professional sales experience with instructional design principles to create a learning solution that focuses on performance rather than information delivery. My goal was to design an engaging learning experience that helps sales professionals build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and apply a consistent sales process in real-world situations.
Drawing on my five years of professional sales experience, I observed common challenges that can limit sales performance, including inconsistent sales approaches, difficulty navigating customer conversations, and varying levels of confidence when handling objections and closing opportunities. These observations inspired the development of this concept eLearning course.
The course was designed to demonstrate how a structured, interactive learning solution could help reinforce a consistent sales methodology, strengthen essential selling skills, and provide learners with opportunities to practice real-world sales conversations through scenario-based learning. The eLearning format was intentionally selected for its flexibility, scalability, and ability to deliver a consistent learning experience while allowing learners to develop skills at their own pace.
Based on m years of professional sales experience, industry best practices, and reflection on common sales challenges, I identified several opportunities where a structured learning solution could improve sales performance.
Need for a Consistent Sales Process
Sales professionals often develop their own approaches, which can lead to inconsistent customer experiences and varying sales results. A standardized sales methodology can help create greater consistency and confidence throughout the sales cycle.
Flexible Learning for Busy Sales Professionals
Sales teams frequently balance prospecting, customer meetings, follow-up activities, and administrative responsibilities. A self-paced eLearning course allows learners to build and reinforce skills without disrupting their daily workflow.
Practical Skill Development
Successful selling requires more than product knowledge. Learners benefit from opportunities to practice customer discovery, objection handling, relationship building, and closing techniques in realistic scenarios.
Scalable Learning Solution
An eLearning course provides a consistent learning experience that can be easily delivered to both new and experienced sales professionals, making it a practical solution for organizations of varying sizes.
Interactive Learning Improves Engagement
Interactive scenarios, knowledge checks, and immediate feedback encourage active participation and provide learners with opportunities to apply concepts in realistic sales situations, increasing engagement and knowledge retention.
Performance-Focused Training
The course was designed to emphasize observable sales behaviors and decision-making skills that contribute to stronger customer interactions, increased confidence, and improved sales performance.
To address the performance challenges commonly experienced throughout the sales process, I designed this concept eLearning course as a flexible, learner-centered solution that combines instructional best practices with practical sales application.
The course was intentionally designed to:
Reinforce a structured, repeatable sales methodology that can be applied throughout the entire sales cycle.
Provide a self-paced learning experience that allows busy sales professionals to build skills at their own convenience.
Increase learner engagement through interactive activities, scenario-based learning, and knowledge checks that encourage active participation.
Promote skill transfer by allowing learners to practice real-world sales conversations in a risk-free environment.
Support both new and experienced sales professionals through a scalable learning experience that can be adapted to a variety of industries and sales environments.
Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:
Explain the stages of an effective sales process and the purpose of each phase.
Identify customer needs through effective questioning and active listening techniques.
Apply prospecting and lead qualification strategies to prioritize high-potential opportunities.
Deliver customer-focused sales presentations that communicate value and address business needs.
Respond confidently to common customer objections using effective communication and problem-solving techniques.
Recognize buying signals and apply appropriate closing strategies.
Develop post-sale follow-up strategies that strengthen customer relationships and encourage long-term retention.
Evaluate personal sales performance using key sales metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Although this course was developed as a concept project, it was intentionally designed to support measurable improvements in sales performance and learner confidence. If implemented, the anticipated outcomes include:
Greater Consistency Throughout the Sales Process
Sales professionals will apply a structured sales methodology, creating a more consistent customer experience from prospecting through closing.
Improved Customer Conversations
Learners will demonstrate greater confidence in conducting customer discovery, asking effective questions, and identifying customer needs before presenting solutions.
Stronger Objection Handling Skills
Through realistic scenarios and guided practice, learners will develop strategies for responding to common objections and overcoming barriers to purchasing decisions.
Increased Confidence in Closing Opportunities
Learners will recognize buying signals and apply appropriate closing techniques with greater confidence and professionalism.
Enhanced Customer Relationship Management
Participants will understand the value of post-sale follow-up and relationship building to support customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term business growth.
Improved Knowledge Retention and Learner Engagement
Interactive scenarios, knowledge checks, and immediate feedback are designed to increase learner engagement while reinforcing key concepts and encouraging long-term retention.
Support for Continuous Performance Improvement
Learners will be encouraged to reflect on their sales performance, identify areas for growth, and continue developing their professional selling skills.
This concept course was designed to demonstrate how instructional design can improve workplace performance by combining adult learning principles, realistic practice opportunities, and interactive learning experiences. Rather than focusing solely on product knowledge, the course emphasizes the communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills that contribute to successful sales outcomes.
